Le Couturier is a Marcel Boucher brand which was produced in Canada. Marcel Boucher started working for Cartier in France. After he moved to New York City in 1925. In 1930, Boucher started working with Mazer Brothers, when the great depression made making fine jewelry untenable, and remained with them until 1937. In 1937, Boucher started his own company making costume jewelry with the same techniques that he had used to make fine jewelry. In 1945, the company started marking its inventory with inventory numbers, so jewelry can be dated fairly accurately. Due to the high quality of Boucher's work, the company's jewelry is highly sought after. The company closed in the early 1970s.
