1970s goldtone alternating oval clear melon beads with bezel set oval discoball-like faceted beads sautoir necklace with spring ring clasp. Marked "deLillo" on a hangtag near the clasp. Doubled it measures 28 1/2 inches long. Condition: Good; darkening/discoloration to metal, it appears that someone probably got hairspray on it, so there is some residue in crevices, though most cleaned off. Priced accordingly.
William de Lillo was born in Belgium and moved to NYC in the 1950s. He worked with Tiffany's, Cartier, Miriam Haskell and Harry Winston before meeting his partner Robert Clark at Miriam Haskell. Together they started William De Lillo Ltd in 1969. The jewelry was designed to be unisex, with the idea that necklaces should replace ties. The collections were very limited and only sold at high end stores. They closed the company in 1976, when William and Robert moved to France, where they then went on to collaborate with couture fashion houses like Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, Nina Ricci and Schiaparelli. Some of their clients included the Duchess of Windsor and Elizabeth Taylor.
